Isn't still fresh in your mind, AXIS Jakarta International Soulnation Festival held on 17 and 18 October 2008, the first soul, R&B, hip hop and rap festival in Southeast Asian region? Held by Java Festival Production at Istora Senayan, the event enticed the audience with charming performances of Akon, Ashanti, Blackstreet, Tony Toni Tone, Rahsaan Patterson, Thaitanium (Thailand), Che'Nelle, Blackalicious, Iz & the NuFirm, who performed in turns with the likes of Soulvibe, Soul ID, Panji, Batik Tribe, Saykoji, RAN, Maliq 'n D'Essentials, Sania, Yacko and a long list of other Indonesian performers.

The rap/soul/hip hop/R&B music festival is designed to be held annually has become one of the most awaited event by music enthusiasts. In 2008, it proved to be a blast, which motivated visitors to immediately inquire when the next "Soulnation" event will be held.

Since June 2009, Java Festival Production (JFP) has been preparing the second installment of the festival, this time dubbed AXIS Jakarta International Java Soulnation Festival, scheduled for 30 and 31 October 2009 at Istora Senayan Jakarta, themed "One Nation, One Rhythm".

Scheduled to be held in four more months, the festival is due to be enlivened by Indonesia's remarkable rap/soul/hip hop/R&B talents, ranging from the renowned to the new groups. Included in the wish list are The Boogiemen, Faro, J-Flow, Joeniar Arief, Kungpow Chiken, Maliq 'n D'Essentials, Pandji, RAN, Rap Superstar, Saykoji, Soul ID, Souleh & Soulehah, Soulvibe and many more.

Java Festival Production is also establishing talks with foreign musicians such as John Legend, DJ Havana Brown, Joe Flizzow, Laura Izibor and Pete Philly & Perqusite. International hip hop group Arrested Development and Tortured Soul have confirmed their attendances at the AXIS Jakarta International Java Soulnation Festival 2009. In addition, DJ Havana Brown, DJ Mi$$ Yellow, Jessica Mauboy and Musiq Soulchild are names who are also ready to groove the festival's stages.

The AXIS Jakarta International Java Soulnation Festival 2009 program team are also in the midst of preparing a number of special projects, which usually are the ultimate surprise element for the audience of festivals produced by Java Festival Production. For hip hop and rap enthusiasts, there will be a special area reserved to rap battle, b-boy battle, extreme sports are other special programs.

Prior to the event, AXIS held Road to AXIS Soulnation Festival, a band competition to find talented rap, freestyle dance, beat box band. The competition was held in five big cities, Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, dan Yogyakarta, starting 6 July 2009. The best performer from each region will get opportunity to perform on one of the AXIS Soulnation Festival stages. The judges consisted of AXIS, Java Festival Production, and radio who partnering in this competition event. This program is especially developed by AXIS to provide a medium for its subscribers to deliver its creativity and to show appreciation on the great talent that Indonesian young musicians have.
